  • This could literally be anything.

First step – when you start up get the task manager running (Ctrl-Atl-Del) and see what processes are running. Is there anything you don’t expect?

Similarly look next to the clock. Is there any icons which you don’t recognise or don’t want to be running?

Next, try and run a virus scan to be on the safe side. I don’t know if you’ll have time but try it anyway.

Have you checked disk space? How much space is left on your hard drive?

After that we’re getting down to the hardware level. I don’t feel comfortable advising what to do over wordpress for that. Instead just go to a PC repair shop.
